Mission:
Prologue
Location: McCauley's Quarters
Timeline: 2388
Evy and Arun had just made it aboard with their daughter well in tow. While they didn't have much for the family outside of the one large bag each, they did have a large crate that had been carried between the two officers when they boarded. The two adults were quite excited to have an assignment that they were actually together for now, instead of being split between two different assignments. Evy was just excited to have Oriana there every day now instead of her staying with her father on the Deep Space Station.
Having gotten the two settled in their quarters that were assigned to them by the yeoman that greeted them, Evy went to go turn in her transfer orders to the Captain on the ship, an actual Commodore. She hadn't dealt with anyone this high of rank since she left the academy all those years ago. "Computer, location of Commodore McIntyre."
The computer replied in its familiar cadence: “Commodore McEntyre is in his quarters. Deck 6 section 12-Alpha."
She kissed Ori goodbye and told her to get the quarters started with Arun while she went and did her check in. Obviously, Arun would do it later with reporting to engineering, but for now, she was the Chief Operations Officer and was going to go first.
It didn't take her long to make it to the Commodore's quarters. While she hated having to interrupt personal time, she realized it was still 'daylight' hours and the yeoman that snagged them at their arrival told her to report after dropping off her things. So, it wasn't like she wasn't going out of her way to be disruptive. She worried with new assignments and leaders. She hit the chime and waited for her to be summoned.
Elias was working from his quarters this particular day. He was dressed in the casual variant of the duty uniform. A waistcoat over the grey mock turtleneck. He ears twitched as he heard the chime. Turning his head curiously to the large doors that lead into his quarters. He wasn't expecting anyone and he didn't have any appointments that he knew of.
"Come in?" He called out with a curious tone.
Taking that summons as permission, she entered the Commodore's Quarters. "Sir, Lieutenant Evy McCauley reporting for duty. I have my transfer orders here for you," she offered him the PADD she had been carrying and returned back to the at-attention stance.
Elias blinked a few times. She wasn't on the schedule. He stood from where he was sitting on his couch and walked over to accept the PADD from her.
"I'm goin be a bit blunt: I was not expecting you." Elias said candidly as he looked over her transfer orders quickly before he gestured her into his quarters.
"Come in, mind the mess, I'm working from home cause my boy is home from school."
His quarters had the appearance of ones well lived. It was a mix of Texan charm and Starship design. Leather furniture that looked older than the ship interspersed with evidence that at least one child lived there. Toys and other materials scattered about.
"Ya want some coffee, I think there's some left from this morning." He asked as he he entered the kitchen, holding out the pot, half full for Evy to see.
"Hmm," Evy hummed. "Not expecting me now or ever?" She asked, curious how it was going to go. "I'm good on caffeine today, thank you. How old is your son, if I can ask. My daughter and husband came aboard with me."
"Emery, and he just turned 6" Elias said as he came back with a cup in his hand. "To reference your first question, I think you slipped through the cracks of my schedule." He gave a soft smile.
"Not to say we aren't glad to have ya." He continued as he gestured to a round table near the kitchen where he took a seat.
"So tell me more about ya beyond what may be in your file."
'Well, my daughter Oriana is aboard. Shes currently seven heading onto right soon. As for the schedule, I think we got in a bit early. More about me?" She rattled off. "Im a hard worker and looking forward to having an assignment that my family is here and my husband isnt taking leave for."
"My husband is aboard too. Our Science Officer." Elias smiles as he takes a sip from his cup. A beautiful cup from a matching set that resembles historical photos of Tea Service from the old Excelsior.
"I will also be candid and say that you've come at the tail end of a relatively boring mapping assignment along the borders of the Patch. As soon as this is done in about 3 or 4 weeks, we'll be putting into Deep Space 12 at Ba'ku for a 6 month overhaul."
She smiled hearing him talk about his husband. "I've come off a deep space assignment and I know my husband would be thrilled working an overhaul. I can make sure we are fully stocked at the overhaul completion once we have a better idea the subsequent mission."
“When we do get our assignment for our next mission, I’ll pass it along. Right now our main concern is the computer core. Slated for Bio-Neural swaps and isolinear imagings.” Elias elaborated the short term goals.
"I can work on both of those. I can take a look at the core during the swaps and the imaging effort going on to see if there are any other efficiency grabs we can get," Evy offered.
“Excellent! Do you have any questions for me?” Elias inquired as he took another sip of his coffee.
She went pensive for a moment to quickly run things through and realized that at this time, she had no additional questions. "None at this time. I do expect you might have a few when you get to the classified part of my jacket," she offered, letting him know that there was more her than what he probably saw before when the position was accepted.
Elias chucked. "I'll keep that in mind."
"If there's nothing else, Sir, I'd like to get my family situated. My husband will be around sometime soon to hand his transfer orders over as well," she stated.
"Of Course, and Welcome Aboard again, Lieutenant" Elias said as he stood and offered his hand.
